The recording is complete, and it’s been sent to press. The sessions started with a big bang in the beginning of September 2000. The first tape that was put in the tape deck at the studio got fried by a power surge (caused by lightning) during a storm, which would be almost unheard of.
Maybe the playing was too hot, and it really wasn’t the lightning after all?! After recording only one rhythm track with his Randy Rhodes Jackson, the bridge pickup stopped working in the guitar. This was the first such incident of Zoltan’s many years of playing that a pickup stopped working.
Then, later on, while in the studio the neck of his Kramer guitar cracked badly, hanging on only by a prayer. Many tracks on the album were recorded with this broken neck. There was a dangerous moment one night when leaving the studio, the street was closed down because cops were out at the end of the street with their guns drawn, aiming at some poor criminal.
The next incident happened when Zoltan was hanging Christmas lights on a tree at home, and a branch broke below him. He twisted his left shoulder really bad when he hung on to his dear life by grabbing a branch above. Even though he had to go through intense physical therapy, luckily, it did not effect his playing other than he had to take short break during recording. As you can see, it’s been an eventful eight months, but finally we have a great product, and we can’t wait for you to hear it!
